God’s Word vs. Modern Views: The Campaign for Immorality
In today’s world, we’re seeing rapid changes in how society views moral issues. Actions that were once considered against biblical teachings are now often accepted or even celebrated. When it comes to God’s word vs. modern views, this can leave many wondering: What does the Bible actually say about these topics?
In this post, we’ll explore what Scripture says about homosexuality and immorality. We’ll use verses primarily from the King James Version (KJV) and the NKJV to understand God’s perspective and find hope for redemption.
Understanding God’s Wrath
The Apostle Paul speaks about God’s response when people turn away from Him in the Book of Romans. Let’s look at Romans 1:18:
“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness.” (Romans 1:18, KJV)
Our people as a whole have ignored or suppressed the truth about God and several consequences have unfolded in society:
- Widespread Sexual Immorality
- Acceptance of Homosexuality
- A Depraved Mind
1. Widespread Sexual Immorality
The first sign of our nation turning away from God is an increase in sexual sins.
“Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves.” (Romans 1:24, KJV)
When people choose to ignore God, He allows them to follow their own desires, which can lead to dishonoring their bodies through various sexual sins.
Today, we see this in the normalization of behaviors that the Bible describes as sinful. Messages promoting sexual immorality are widespread in media, affecting how people view relationships and commitment.
2. Acceptance of Homosexuality
The next step is when society begins to accept and even celebrate homosexual behavior.
**”For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly…”** (Romans 1:26-27, KJV)
These verses explain that people start engaging in actions that go against the natural order God created. The Bible presents marriage as a union between one man and one woman. When society redefines this, it reflects a deeper departure from God’s design.
Debates over marriage definitions and gender identity are common today. While many advocate for acceptance, it’s important for believers to consider what Scripture says on these matters and stand on it.
3. A Depraved Mind
Finally, people’s thinking becomes so distorted that they can’t tell right from wrong.
“And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind…” (Romans 1:28, KJV)
This leads to various negative behaviors, and society begins to suffer. People may justify actions that are harmful, and moral standards become blurred.
We observe this when unethical practices become acceptable or when truth becomes relative. This moral confusion can lead to increased injustice and a lack of compassion.
The Consequences of Ignoring God
When a nation or society turns its back on God, serious consequences follow.
Moral Decline
Values that once held our society together have started to break down. Actions previously considered wrong have become normal.
“Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness…” (Isaiah 5:20, KJV)
This verse warns against confusing right and wrong. When moral boundaries are removed, it can lead to chaos and harm.
For example, if honesty is no longer valued, corruption spreads. Recognizing the importance of God’s moral guidelines helps protect individuals and communities.
Breakdown of Society
Families suffer, and communities weaken. There’s an increase in broken homes and a lack of moral guidance.
“Therefore the law is slacked, and judgment doth never go forth: for the wicked doth compass about the righteous…” (Habakkuk 1:4, KJV)
When moral values decline, justice and righteousness are overshadowed by wrongdoing. This can lead to increased violence and inequality.
Strong families and communities are built on principles like love, respect, and responsibility. When these are eroded, everyone is affected, especially children who need guidance and stability.
Divine Judgment
Ultimately, persistent sin can lead to God’s judgment.
“The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.” (Psalm 9:17, KJV)
This verse serves as a sobering reminder of the consequences of turning away from God. It’s meant to encourage reflection and repentance.
Throughout history, nations embracing injustice and immorality have faced consequences. This highlights the importance of aligning our lives and societies with God’s principles.

What the Bible Says About Homosexuality
The Bible addresses homosexual behavior directly in several passages.
Old Testament Teachings
“Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.” (Leviticus 18:22, KJV)
This verse clearly states that homosexual acts are considered wrong in God’s eyes. The term “abomination” means something that God strongly dislikes.
“If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination…” (Leviticus 20:13, KJV)
These laws were given to set moral boundaries, reflecting God’s standards for sexual behavior. They aimed to promote holiness and protect the community.
The Story of Sodom and Gomorrah
The cities of Sodom and Gomorrah are examples of societies facing consequences for immorality.
“As Sodom and Gomorrha… giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example…” (Jude 1:7, KJV)
Their destruction serves as a warning about the seriousness of turning away from God’s ways. The story emphasizes the impact of widespread immorality on a community.
While these cities were judged, the Bible also highlights God’s willingness to spare them if righteous people could be found (Genesis 18:32). This underscores God’s mercy and desire for repentance.
New Testament Affirmations
The New Testament continues to address the topic.
“Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators… nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind… shall inherit the kingdom of God.” (1 Corinthians 6:9-10, KJV)
In the NKJV, this passage reads:
“Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators… nor homosexuals, nor sodomites… will inherit the kingdom of God.” (1 Corinthians 6:9-10, NKJV)
This passage warns that those who practice such behaviors, without repentance, will not inherit God’s kingdom. The emphasis is on turning away from sin and seeking God’s forgiveness.
The New Testament focuses on the transformation that comes through faith in Jesus. It’s about encouraging individuals to embrace a new life aligned with God’s will.
There’s Hope for Everyone
Despite these warnings, the Bible offers a message of hope and redemption.
Transformation Through Jesus
“And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus…” (1 Corinthians 6:11, KJV)
This means that some early Christians once lived in these sins but were transformed through faith in Jesus. Their past didn’t define them; their new identity in Christ did.
This transformation is available to everyone. No matter our past, God’s grace brings forgiveness and change.
Steps to Redemption
- Admit the Sin: Recognize and acknowledge wrongdoing.“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9, KJV)Acknowledging mistakes is the first step toward healing. It requires humility and honesty.
- Believe in Jesus: Trust in Jesus as Lord and Savior.“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16, KJV)Faith in Jesus opens the door to a relationship with God and eternal life.
- Live a New Life: Allow God to change you from the inside out.“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” (2 Corinthians 5:17, KJV)Transformation is an ongoing process. With God’s help, we can overcome past struggles and live according to His purpose.
Real-Life Stories
Many have experienced transformation after turning to Jesus. Their stories show that change is possible and that God’s love is available to everyone.
Testimonies of individuals who have left various lifestyles and found hope in Christ remind us that no one is beyond God’s reach.
The Church’s Role
In these challenging times, the church has an important role to play.
Speak the Truth with Love
“But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ.” (Ephesians 4:15, KJV)
We must stand firm on what the Bible says but share it with kindness and compassion. Our goal should be to guide, not condemn.
This means listening to others, understanding their struggles, and offering support. Love should motivate our words and actions.
Offer Support and Restoration
The church should be a place where people find help and hope.
“Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness…” (Galatians 6:1, KJV)
This means helping others overcome struggles without judgment. Encouragement and accountability can make a significant difference.
Support groups, counseling, and mentorship within the church community can provide practical assistance to those seeking change.
Avoid Harsh Judgment
While we must be honest about sin, we should avoid being unkind.
“Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.” (Colossians 4:6, KJV)
Our goal is to guide others toward God’s love, not push them away. Being gracious in conversations can open doors to meaningful dialogue.
Remembering that we all need God’s grace helps us approach others with humility.
How Should We Respond?
As believers, we need to navigate these changes wisely.
Stay True to God’s Word
“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord…” (1 Corinthians 15:58, KJV)
We should hold firmly to what the Bible teaches, even when unpopular. This requires courage and conviction.
Studying Scripture helps us understand God’s will and equips us to share it with others.
Pray for Our Nation
“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face… then will I hear from heaven…” (2 Chronicles 7:14, KJV)
Prayer can bring change in hearts and societies. By praying for leaders, communities, and those struggling, we invite God’s intervention.
Prayer also aligns our hearts with God’s, helping us respond with compassion and wisdom.
Be a Positive Influence
“Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.” (Matthew 5:14, KJV)
We are called to make a positive difference by living our faith authentically. Our actions can inspire others to seek God.
This might involve volunteering, showing kindness, or living with integrity daily.
By reflecting God’s love, we can impact those around us and contribute to positive change.
Conclusion
In a world that often goes against biblical teachings, it’s crucial to return to what God’s Word says. While society may change its views, God’s truth remains the same. The Bible warns about the consequences of sin but also offers hope and redemption.
Let’s hold onto these truths, lovingly guide others toward a relationship with Jesus, and embrace the hope we have in Him.
“Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.” (Psalm 33:12, KJV)
